More About Hidradenitis Suppuirvia
Excruciating pain and embarrassing smell make daily life difficult when you suffer with Hidradenitis Suppuirvia (HS)
Life is not easy with HS. First it’s the bumps that hurt immensely. They show up in the armpit, on the inner thighs, under the breast and down there. Then they swell up like cysts. Then they burst and release a horrible smell. The fear of someone perceiving you as disgusting is a constant worry.
Flare-ups occur quickly with little warning. You might notice a small pea-sized bump with no pain one day. The next day the bumps are larger and tender and annoying. The next day the areas with the bumps burn and the pain is constant and throbbing. Now you are sensitive to any pressure or movement.
Then for the next 2-3 days the pain is excruciating. Everything is hard to do. You feel like you don't want to move. It hurts to take a shower, so you don't. You cannot do laundry because of the pain. It’s impossible to socialize. Can't go to work. Can't even lift your child above your head or change a light bulb. All movement hurts.
If the bumps have not drained, they get larger and hurt more. When the bumps drain or leak there is a smelly discharge makes you want to isolate yourself. You feel depressed and alone.

There is still much that is not fully understood about the causes of HS and how it develops within the body. For this reason, Pacific Clinical Trials and Mavis W Billips MD MPH will investigate 3 different possible treatment options and assess the benefits to people with moderate to severe HS.
